So here's what I put together. Senior care providers, home health, hospice, DME, pharmacy, elder law -- and the technology companies building the devices that actually keep people safe at home. All in one room at United Way of Greater Houston. I've never seen this happen in this city before. Now it is.
So I've been in this industry long enough to see the same thing happen over and over. A family gets a call from the hospital saying Mom is being discharged, and they have maybe 48 hours to figure out what comes next. They Google. They panic. They call the first place that picks up the phone. And half the time, they don't even know that home health, hospice, and senior living are three completely different things.
Meanwhile, you're running a great senior care business in Houston, and the families who need you the most can't find you. The providers who should be referring to you don't know you exist. And the technology companies building incredible devices -- fall detection sensors, remote monitoring systems, medication management tools -- they can't get in front of the people who actually need what they're building.
I kept watching this disconnect and finally said, you know what, I'm just going to build the room myself.
That's what June 2nd is. Senior care providers, home health agencies, hospice teams, DME companies, pharmacies, elder law attorneys, tech companies -- all in the same room at United Way of Greater Houston. Four hours. 20 vendors. And the families and professionals who need all of you, right there, ready to connect.
I capped it at 2 vendors per category because I don't want you competing with five other booths selling the same service. When your category fills, it closes. That's not a sales line, that's just how I set it up. Senior Living already filled both slots.
I'm not going to sugarcoat this. The federal budget just identified 66 Texas nursing homes as high-risk for closure. We already led the nation in closures in 2022, and then Silver Leaf shut down 11 facilities at once last year -- 60 residents displaced overnight.
46% of nursing homes in the state have already limited new admissions because they can't staff the beds they have. CMS cut home health reimbursement again this year. There are 15,850 Texans right now on a waiting list for home-based Medicaid care.
If you're in this industry in Houston, you already feel it. The families are more overwhelmed than ever, the options are shrinking, and nobody is connecting the dots between the people who need help and the people who can actually provide it. That's what this summit fixes.

Alongside service vendors, Houston's first ElderTech Summit will feature companies bringing in-home sensors, remote monitoring systems, fall detection devices, medication management technology, and other innovations keeping seniors safe and independent at home. Your $250 slot puts you in the same room as the companies building the future of senior care, and the families and professionals who need both of you.
If a slot opens up or a new category becomes available, we'll reach out the second it happens. You'll hear from us before it goes public.
If you're a family member researching senior care, a caregiver, a discharge planner, or just someone who wants to know what's actually available in Houston right now -- this event is free. Come meet the providers. See the technology. Ask your questions to people who do this every day.
